Staying true to yourself

When I was training to become a coach, my mentor told each person in the group what gave us strength. In my case, it was courage, and it's been resonating with me lately.

I guess I've made many brave decisions in my life, but as a perfectionist and self-demanding, I've had a tendency to focus on the outcomes rather than the actions driving me there.

However, courage is not just about bold moves. More often, it's about our small, quiet decisions to honour who we are.

Chapters can be short, and stepping away from something that doesn't align with your values takes guts and self-love. Sometimes, what looks new, shiny, and exciting turns out to be misaligned, and that thing we seem to want will only work if we betray who we are. Writing an ending to that chapter is a normal part of growth.

That's why taking the time to meet yourself is so important. Discover who you are, what you stand for, what moves you, and what revolts you. Because staying true to yourself requires reflection, as well as the confidence to go for what you stand for.

Style is a great way to channel this since clothes are our armour. When we dress, we modify our bodies. And if what we add to them validates us and enhances our strengths, it will give us the courage to be authentically ourselves.

Clothes and accessories have colours, textures, and shapes. They provoke emotions, and if used right, they can help us confidently embrace our identity and show the world who we are.

Staying true to myself, I will dress myself to feel badass, brave, and capable and keep writing what's coming next.
