Your wardrobe tells a story
When was the last time you did a wardrobe clearout?
I just finished mine. And it was a deep one, mainly for two reasons.
1) I got rid of 1/4 of my clothes and accessories, including:
garments that don't fit me the way I like anymore and will unnecessarily make me feel bad about my body
items I don't wear anymore but kept because "they had cost me money" back then
clothes that make me feel like I'm hiding who I am every time I wear them
anything worn to death and impossible to save
2) Colour is taking over!
I still love, love, love black—and I still have a lot of it. But comparing my current wardrobe to my last proper big clearout (three years ago), the difference is wild. There are bright, bold colours and variety. And they tell me that I've stopped hiding and embraced my diversity.
Because your wardrobe tells a story.
Personal style is the way you dress, yes, but also the way you walk, what you like, what you do. Even what annoys you and what you are against.
Your style is how you express yourself to the world, making you want to look a certain way, to belong.
If you keep trying to fit into an idea of who you think you should be, your wardrobe will show it. And you will most likely feel frustrated because you'll be getting dressed to play a role.
When you feel free to be yourself, your external image becomes an extension of your moods and dimensions, enhancing your essence and allowing you to show your weirdness with pride. To be seen.
You can use your style to make room for you. Because you deserve the space.
